The president of Switzerland, Karin Keller Sutter, conveyed this Tuesday to her Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelensky, her willingness to mediate in the conflict, which began on February 24, 2022 by order of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.

“During today’s telephone conversation with Zelensky, he assured him of Switzerland’s continued support for Ukraine, in particular through our numerous long-term humanitarian and reconstruction projects, as well as our willingness to contribute to the peace process through goodwill. trades of Switzerland,” he expressed on his profile on the social network X.

For his part, Zelensky, who took advantage of the call to congratulate her on taking office this year, expressed his gratitude for Switzerland’s support for Ukraine. “It is important that we continue working together to achieve a just and lasting peace,” he indicated.

“I have recognized Switzerland’s annual contributions to the humanitarian grain program and have invited them to join our new initiative, Food from Ukraine, aimed at supporting the Syrian people and preventing a food crisis in Syria,” he said, before adding that the first 500 tons of Ukrainian wheat flour have already been sent to Syria.
