Although Leica has collaborated, and continues to do so, with several smartphone manufacturers to integrate certain optimizations and processing to mobile cameras, the company has a Leitz Phone line of terminals under its own brand (based on other models) very oriented to Photography.
His latest creation is the Leica Leitz Phone 3, a mobile that continues to bet, like its predecessors, on a one inch sensor. In this case, it is a sensor 47.2 megapixel F1/1.9 CMOS and equipped with 6x digital zoom. It is accompanied by different “Leitz Looks” filters that simulate the effect of three lenses from the Leica M range with variable aperture: the Noctilux-M 1:1.2/50, the Summilux-M 1:1.4/28 and the Summilux-M 1:1.4/35.
The use of a single sensor is striking in a market like the current one, where it is common for mobile phones to offer several sensors.
On the front we have a 12.6 Megapixel sensor with 8x zoom.
The processor that gives life to the Leica Leitz Phone 3 it's a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 of the last generation along with 12 GB of RAM, 512 GB of internal storage, a 5,000 mAh battery and a 6.6-inch IZGO OLED screen with 2,730 x 1,260 pixels resolution. The device has water resistance and a finish that simulates leather on the back.
Unfortunately, the Leica Leitz Phone 3, although it has its section on the Leica website, will only be sold in Japan, since it is manufactured by Sharp and they do not usually launch terminals outside the country.
