For years, wireless routers have held a more or less similar design philosophy. small rectangular boxes with more or less number of antennas, depending on the brand and model. In recent times, however, manufacturers have begun to bet on somewhat bolder concepts.
He TP-Link Archer AXE200 Omni announced in 2022 is a clear example of this. It is a router with futuristic lines and the ability to move its antennas to improve the WiFi signal. The new D-Link Aquila Pro AI, presented at MWC 2023arrive to become the new members of this unique club.

Curved design, but far from extravagance
D-Link, as we say, has put a new design concept as the essence of its new Aquila Pro AI mesh routers, but with a very careful aesthetics. We are not facing extravagant devices and more aggressive lines like the ones we usually find in products oriented to the world gaming.
On the contrary, the manufacturer has opted for an elegant white box with a curvature that, yes, does not go unnoticed. This design, as they explain, seeks to become an ideal choice for modern homes. Certainly, from our point of view, it could be placed almost anywhere in the house.
But what’s new in Aquila Pro AI routers isn’t just about looks. There are also novelties inside that vary according to the five proposals that presents the range (MS78, MS60, MS30, M60 and M30). As we can see in the data sheet, the most ambitious device has WiFi 6E and reaches speeds of 7,800 Mbps (tri-band).
In addition, it has tri-band, a 2.5 Gbps WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports. The proposal also benefits from the technologies included AI Wi-Fi Optimiser, AI Mesh Optimiser, and AI Traffic Optimiser which, thanks to algorithmic work, improve the performance of the router in different scenarios, from connection stability to video transmission in 4 and 8K.
An interesting point is that several of the models in the Aquila Pro AI family are compatible with Matter, the standard that has arrived to make life a little easier for those of us who we bet on home automation. In this sense, D-Link proposes a “unified smart home experience” whose axis is the application of the router for mobile phones.
Through the app, they say, users will be able to easily incorporate Matter-compatible devices into our home network. In the interface we will find all the available devices and we will have the possibility to manage them. All models, meanwhile, are compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa.
Price and availability of the new D-Link Aquila Pro AI
D-Link says its new family of wireless routers, which will come bundled with a WiFi repeater, will be available starting on second quarter of 2023. At the moment, their prices have not been announced.
