NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg asked the Kosovar authorities on Sunday to refrain from increasing tension in the Serb-majority north after protests on Friday against Kosovar Albanian mayors who were trying to take office.
The April elections, intended to fill the void left by Kosovar Serb mayors who decided to resign their posts in protest against the Pristina government, ended with the triumph of Kosovar Albanian mayors who are not recognized as legitimate authorities by Belgrade or the Kosovar Serb parties, hence the protests. .
Stoltenberg spoke this Sunday with the top diplomat of the European Union, Josep Borrell, who has been mediating for months in talks between Kosovo and Serbia so that they normalize their relations despite the fact that their positions are frankly distant.
