MADRID 3 Nov. () –

The Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, has warned of “destabilization attempts” in the country precisely when the presidential elections are being held this Sunday. The main favorites are the pro-European and current president, Maia Sandu, and the candidate of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Alexandr Stoianoglo, considered close to Russia.

“As I had already predicted, the attacks continue. The thieves are afraid of you. That is why they report false bomb warnings in several voting centers abroad,” he declared in reference to the information, none of it confirmed.

Recean has stressed that the Government “is prepared” for this type of destabilizing activities and “closely collaborates” with the authorities of the affected countries “to guarantee the security of the vote and of the voters”, according to the Moldovan news portal Deschide.

“Every vote counts. Thank you for the exceptional mobilization and keep voting!” appealed the Moldovan president.

Sandu, candidate of the liberal Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), was the candidate with the most votes in the first round with almost 42.5 percent of the votes; while Stoianoglo managed to convince about 30 percent of the electorate, and now aims to convince the rest of the voters to unseat the current Moldovan president.

The few polls that have been carried out in the two weeks that have elapsed since the first round of the presidential elections were held show that Sandu would win more than half of the votes, which would guarantee another four years to move forward. with its policies, focused on European integration.
