( Spanish) –– A 26-year-old man was arrested accused of stabbing four people in the Mexico City Metro, police reported.
According to the report, the alleged aggressor entered the Tacubaya station with a knife and lunged at people to injure them, then jumped onto the Metro tracks to escape from the police, which caused a convoy to stop.
After the arrest, paramedics treated the detainee for a head injury. Following the inspection, they indicated that he was intoxicated with unknown substances.
Those injured with a knife are men aged 32, 49, 60 and 63, who were taken to different hospitals. Three of the injured will remain hospitalized, one of whom is in critical condition, according to the Police.
The Secretary of Public Security of CDMX, Pablo Vázquez, reported that the Public Ministry opened an investigation file for the crime of attempted homicide and that the detainee was taken to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation.
The official said that the capital’s social proximity authorities will review the identification and care protocols for people with mental health and suicide prevention.
