March 31 () –
The mayor of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, Vadym Boychenko, stated this Friday in an interview on the Freedom television channel that the reconstruction of his city will take about 20 years.
Boychenko has indicated that the Russian attacks in the last two months have destroyed 50 percent of the “modern and European” city that they had been building for seven years.
As a consequence, the restoration will last at least 20 years and will cost UAH 14 billion (about 350 billion euros).
He added that the city council is already working on a plan that establishes the priority steps after the liberation of Mariúpol.
According to the Ukrainian outlet Ukrinform, the Russian aggressions have created one of the “biggest humanitarian disasters” in Mariupol, destroying almost 90 percent of the city since the start of the war.
