According to the text of the complaint, Carmen Picazo explained and accused the mayor of Albacete of knowing that there were exam leaks, of having knowledge of it and not acting before this matter was denounced by the Popular Party, a case that has already It was archived by the Prosecutor’s Office on the understanding that there was no indication of any crime.

“As a consequence of these statements, which are nothing more than a political maneuver by Mrs. Picazo to have an excuse and break the government pact that the PSOE had with Citizens in the Albacete City Council to date, she has taken the opportunity to accuse of corruption to Mr. Sáez”, reads the text of the complaint, as reported by the Albacete City Council.

The complaint states that these statements “discredit and question the honesty of the mayor of Albacete”, pointing out that these behaviors of the regional deputy for Citizens “may constitute a crime of insults”, provided for and punishable in the Penal Code.

“It gives me more peace of mind to see him in a court than in a Town Hall”

Carmen Picazo has not been slow to respond to this complaint: “It gives me more peace of mind to see him in a court than in a City Hall,” he said. And regarding the break between Ciudadanos and the Socialist Party, the leader of the orange formation has claimed that the people of Albacete “voted for us four years ago to do exactly what we are doing: denounce corruption and irregularities. And to banish corruption from politics we must be ruthless. Whoever that fails. And it doesn’t matter who it weighs”.

In this regard, Picazo has come out in defense of those who “have prepared an opposition or are doing so now, cleanly and investing energy, time and money.” “They and their families know very well the work that it takes to get out of opposition so that now some scoundrels access the public function through the back door for having a party card. This is intolerable.” In this regard, he has insisted that “if the mayor knew and allowed it and also lied in the plenary hall when he said that he had no knowledge of these facts, that conduct disqualifies him from being a member of Ciudadanos. It’s that simple”.

The general secretary of Ciudadanos, Adrián Vázquez, has traveled to Albacete to show full support for Picazo: “What is happening in this town hall is a new demonstration that the bipartisanship thinks that it can colonize the institutions and that they can give away a position civil servant for the mere fact of having a party card. We are against that ”, he remarked. Likewise, it has advanced, in view of the elections on May 28, that Ciudadanos will be decisive in Albacete and “we will form a majority of government from the center and we will take care of eradicating any type of corruption and working for families and the middle class of Albacete”.
