Chinese companies are pushing hard in order to have more and more technological independence, and Loongson is a name we’ve heard before when it comes to designing and manufacturing high-performance ARM processors. Now, as we can read in TechPowerUp, we find the 3D5000, a 32-core chip whose performance is 4 times higher than the average ARM chip.
Unfortunately, this is where performance comparisons end, and without knowing exactly where the average falls, there’s little we can say about this chip. However, We do know that it has chiplet technology that represents the combination of two 16-core 3C5000 processors.
This chip also has 64MB of L3 cache, support for 8 channels DDR4 at 3200MHz, and a maximum TDP of 300W. -although its default configuration makes it work at 150W- which would add up to a maximum of 1200W if we have a team of four sockets, the most powerful configuration supported by the platform.
At the level of figures in benchmarks, we have a score of 425 points in SPEC2006, while maintaining a TeraFLOPS in the 64-bit double-precision format.
