In case anyone hadn’t noticed yet, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom stars Zelda, who has traditionally been a spectator to Link’s adventures. This has changed over time until Echoes of Wisdom sees the princess take center stage in the campaign for the first time, at least in a Nintendo-developed game. Our new heroine must step up after mysterious rifts tear the kingdom of Hyrule apart and swallow some of its inhabitants, including Link and the king.
In this adventure to save Hyrule and rescue its inhabitants, Zelda has the help of Tri, a fairy who gives her a mysterious scepter. The scepter allows the princess to create replicas of items she finds around her and fixes them in her memory, an ability that offers players the chance to unleash their ingenuity and imagination when exploring and solving puzzles as well as fighting. For example, if you memorize a table you can build a bridge with it. Likewise, it is possible to memorize and create replicas of monsters to fight alongside our protagonist.
The scepter also allows Zelda to link to objects so they move with her, while the reverse link does the opposite and Zelda follows the object. Once again, this is an ability that seeks to squeeze the imagination of players to overcome challenges. But Echoes of Wisdom also offers more direct options for combat. This is where automatons come in, which are more powerful than replicas but can be broken, and swordsman mode, which is temporary and allows for powerful attacks.
In addition to the main campaign, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom offers a world to explore where the princess will meet a series of characters who need her help.
