The president of Burkina Faso, coup captain Ibrahim Traoré, has appointed Brigadier General Moussa Diallo as the new head of the African country’s Army, after the president announced on December 8 the remodeling of his new Government after its dissolution.
Diallo will succeed Célestin Simporé, who will be the new Minister of Defense, as the new chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The new leader of the Army has extensive military experience and aims to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces, while continuing its efforts to guarantee the country’s security and protect the population.
Burkina Faso has been governed by a military junta called the Patriotic Movement for Salvation and Restoration (MPSR), since the January 2022 coup against the then president, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, led by Paul Henri Sandaogo Damiba, who was removed months later. of power after Traoré’s coup.
Traoré announced the remodeling of his new Executive after its dissolution on December 6 and the appointment of former Government spokesperson Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo as the new Prime Minister. The leader of the military junta made the announcement through a presidential decree.
