In recent months we have seen several solar-charged wireless headphones. Without being anything new (JBL already tried it a long time ago), Urbanista has put them on the radar (see Los Angeles and Phoenix) and now it is Adidas, the sports brand, which has launched its own models. Also, the technology they use is exactly the same: Exeger’s Powerfoyle.
Adidas headphones have been baptized as RPT-02 SOL and they not only stand out for their solar charge. They also have washable parts (something that makes sense, being headphones designed for sports) and promise up to 80 hours of autonomy on a single charge. Its price? €229.

Powerfoyle returns to the charge (solar)
The Adidas RPT-02 SOL are headband headphones made from 87% recycled plastic, according to Adidas. In the diadem we find the Powerfoyle “solar panel”, an Exeger technology that stands out for being versatile and being able to adapt to practically any device. This works both outdoors and indoors and, on paper, provides unlimited autonomy to the headphones.
Although they are recharged with the sun, they can also be charged via USB type C. According to Adidas, they are fully charged in two hours
The headphones are sweat and splash resistant, something expected as they are headphones designed for sports. Something interesting is that it has washable parts. So we can remove the inner part of the headband and the cushions for the ears to wash them after a sport session.
As far as sound is concerned, Adidas has not been too precise with the more technical features. We know that the headphones incorporate a 45 millimeter dynamic driver and that use Bluetooth 5.2 to connect to the mobile, but we do not know the Bluetooth profiles and codecs. Surely they are compatible with AAC and SBC, like the vast majority of headphones.
The headphones also incorporate a multifunction control button (power on, playback, track change and synchronization), as well as an action button, which is a programmable light indicator through the application. This is available in iOS Y Android.
