The Last of Us: Fans and Devs Raise Over $160,000 for Annie Wersching’s Family

The video game and entertainment industries dressed in mourning. Last weekend, the sensitive death of Annie Wersching, actress who gave life to Tess in The Last of Us. Twenty-four hours after this unfortunate news broke, the community showed its support for the family.

Through emotional posts on social networks, colleagues and friends urged users to financially support the actress’s family. This through a GoFundMe campaignwhich seeks to raise funds to ensure that Annie Wersching’s husband can stay at home to raise their 3 children.

“Annie lived for her family. She loved her work and appreciated her friends, but Steve and the kids were everything to her. This GoFundMe is for them. It’s so Steve can have time to cry without the pressure of having to work. So that he can be the daddy to Freddie, Ozzie and Archie as they navigate the future without his mommy, without sweet Annie,” reads the campaign description.

Fortunately, the community showed its solidarity and responded to the call. As of this writing, $167,918 USD has already been raised. The goal of the campaign is to raise $250,000 USD in funding, which means that half of the goal has already been exceeded. Developers and colleagues who had the opportunity to work with the actress contributed to the cause while expressing their condolences to her family.
