MADRID 11 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

This Monday, King Abdullah II of Jordan called for the two-state solution to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and pointed out that this is the “only path to peace, stability and security” in the Middle East region.

In his speech during the Arab-Islamic summit taking place in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, the Jordanian monarch indicated that to achieve a resolution of the conflict it is necessary to include a “real political horizon” in the framework of the talks at regard.

Thus, he recalled that more than a year has passed since Israel “launched its war against Gaza”, which has caused “destruction and death for innocent civilians.” Furthermore, he recalled that the attacks carried out represent a clear “violation of International Law and the resolutions” issued to date.

“The international community has not stopped Israel, which has continued its escalation against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and in holy places, which has started a war against our brother Lebanon. These wars must end immediately, we must protect innocent people and end the destruction; prevent the region from being drawn into a major war,” he clarified.

In this sense, he has urged “increased efforts to end the blockade faced by the Gazan people, put an end to the humanitarian catastrophe, stop the escalation in the West Bank and put an end to the attacks that weaken the possibility of peace.”

In addition, he thanked Saudi Arabia for its efforts in organizing the summit, which is being held at a time when the region is going through “a tragedy that cannot be ignored and that requires immediate measures.”
