The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea has announced the K-Wave Festival 2024. This will take place on November 2 at the Yes24 Live room, located in the Gwangjin-gu district, in the South Korean capital. The event promises to be an exhibition of talent and creativity, in which those who have contributed to the dissemination of Korean culture through various platforms and formats will be recognized.
K-Creators Awards: a recognition of promoters of Korean culture
The first part of the festival will focus on the K-Creators Awards, which are intended to recognize individuals and groups who have played a significant role in the dissemination of Korean culture.
This year, one of the winners is Frenky Ramiro de Jesus, a journalist from East Timor, whose work has been highlighted by exploring little-known places in the Asian country and offering practical advice for those interested in visiting or living in Korea.
On the other hand, there is also the K-influencer category. This has been created taking into account the growing influence of social networks and content creators in the dissemination of contemporary culture, where creativity and authenticity are essential. A team led by Aiyaphat Wankawisant from Thailand has been recognized for their innovative video, which presents Korean culture in an entertaining way.
In addition, the best works in each category of the international Korean content contest Talk Talk Korea will be awarded. This contest has been a platform for content creators from around the world to show their personal perspective on Korean culture.
K-Community Challenge: an instance of international participation
The second part of the festival will include the announcement of the winning team of the K-Community Challenge, an online contest that invites Korean wave clubs to participate in a series of creative challenges. This year, four teams were nominated for their innovative performances and dedication to promoting Korean culture.
The winning team will have the opportunity to perform at a celebration concert alongside well-known K-pop groups such as WOOAH, BEBE, EPEX and SF9.
