The judge in the ‘Koldo case’ rejects the minister Puente’s declaration as a witness and Ábalos’s appearance as a victim

The investigation into the corruption of the 'Koldo case' focuses on the Ministry of Transport

The judge investigating the ‘Koldo case’ at the National Court, Ismael Moreno, has rejected the current Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, from testifying in the case as a witness, legal sources have informed elDiario.es. The magistrate thus rejects the request of one of the popular accusations, which had requested his appearance after the publication of an internal audit of his department that pointed to the existence of “irregularities” in the multi-million euro allocation of masks and pointed to the management of the team of the previous minister, José Luis Ábalos.

On the other hand, the judge has rejected Ábalos’ own request to appear as a victim in the case. Last week, the now deputy of the Mixed Group after his expulsion from the PSOE, asked last week to appear as a victim and provided an expert opinion with which he tried to refute the audit carried out by order of Puente.

In his letter to the court, the former minister argued that although the investigating judge has not asked him for “any information” nor has he been summoned “in any capacity”, “information and news continue to appear that affect him personally and directly”. The Prosecutor’s Office has also filed a complaint, at the request of the former minister, for the alleged leaks in the case.
