29 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, will visit Egypt, Ghana, Kenya and Mozambique this Saturday on a tour whose objective is to improve the continent’s relations with his country.
It is the first trip by a Japanese president since 2014 and will take place a month before the G-7 meeting in Hiroshima, Radio France Internationale (RFI) has reported.
The main reason for this trip is to reduce the influence of mainly China, but also Russia, on the African continent, which would be a disadvantage for Japan, which depends on the natural resources of these countries.
“The president of China, Xi Jinping, and other Chinese leaders have visited Africa and South America. At this rate, we will lose against them,” Kishida himself explained before this trip.
