Intelligence investigates the links of the suspect, who crossed the Lebanese border into Israel, with Hezbollah

March 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli army has announced that it shot dead on Monday a suspected terrorist who, after crossing into northern Israel through Lebanon, exploded a bomb on a road near Megiddo, seriously wounding one man.

Israel’s internal intelligence service, the Shin Bet, together with the Army Spokesperson, have detailed this Wednesday that, within the framework of the investigation, the possible participation of the Lebanese Shiite party-militia Hezbollah is being examined, as reported by the newspaper ‘Haaretz’.

Following Monday’s bomb attack in Megiddo, some 60 kilometers from the Lebanese border, the military ordered road closures to search for the suspect, who hitchhiked to northern Israel and was sighted in the town of Yaara.

The national anti-terrorist unit Yamam, as well as soldiers from the Shin Beit, opened fire on the suspect for posing a “clear danger” to the security forces, since at that time he was carrying an explosive belt, as reported by the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.

The Israel Defense Forces have reported that Israeli intelligence is investigating how the suspect, apparently acting alone, crossed into Israel from Lebanon on Sunday night.
