Israeli military authorities have detailed that the operation has been coordinated with the Israeli internal intelligence department, the Shin Bet. Sources from the Israeli Army confirmed at the beginning of the year that Svirsky had died under Hamas captivity, now the authorities indicate that he will be able to receive a dignified burial in Israel.
Svirsky, 38, was at Kibbutz Beeri to visit his parents during that weekend in which the Israeli population celebrated the Jewish new year. He was kidnapped, while his parents joined the list of those killed in the October 7 attacks.

Netanyahu has conveyed his condolences to the Svirsky family, who not only lost Itay but also his parents, “killed in the Hamas attack.” On the other hand, he expressed his gratitude to the Shin Bet and the IDF “for their brave action to rescue the late Itay” and promised to continue acting “decidedly and tirelessly” to achieve the return of the kidnapped people.
