The Israeli Army announces the death of the leader of Islamic Jihad in Gaza

MADRID 11 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli Army announced this Sunday the death of the leader of Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip, in an airstrike against a school located in the north of the enclave, where Israeli troops have recently expanded their offensive, the scene of continuous bombings.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have indicated that the attack took place during the day on Saturday and that the target was Muhammad Abu Sahil, who “operated” from a command supposedly installed in the Fahid al Tzabá school. Abu Sahil “was a central factor for the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization in the planning and execution of terrorist plans and in formulating situation assessments.”

Likewise, it had a relevant role “in the coordination of terrorist operations” with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) against citizens of the State of Israel and the IDF operating in the Strip,” according to a statement published on its website. At the moment, Islamic Jihad has not commented on the matter.

Israel launched a bloody offensive against the Gaza Strip in response to the attacks carried out on October 7, 2023 by Hamas and other Palestinian factions, which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 250 kidnapped. Since then, the Gazan authorities, controlled by Hamas, have reported the deaths of more than 43,600 Palestinians, plus more than 750 in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in actions by security forces and attacks by Israeli settlers.
