The Israeli Army affirms that the offensive against Rafah will not end "until the objectives are achieved"

June 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The commander of the Southern Command of the Israeli Army, Yaron Finkelman, assured this Friday that the military offensive against the city of Rafá, on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, will not end “until the objectives are achieved,” in means of the continuation of the attacks despite the order of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

“The plan is clear from now on. With the quality of the forces and commanders here, we will continue to advance until we achieve our objectives,” he said, according to a brief statement published by the Israeli Army through its website.

Likewise, he highlighted the “many successes” obtained within the framework of the offensive against Rafá, launched on May 6, and stated that the military is “learning” and demonstrating “determination” in their operations against the Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas) and other Palestinian armed factions.

The Israeli Army has also stated that during the last 24 hours it has continued its operations in the area, where it “has eliminated several terrorists and located many weapons and tunnels”, after more than eight months against Gaza in response to the attacks carried out on the 7th. October by Hamas.

The offensive against Rafah, initially focused on the eastern part of the city and later extended to its central area, including the seizure of the Palestinian side of the crossing with Egypt, has led to the suspension of humanitarian operations through the border crossing, which is deepening the serious crisis in which the enclave is immersed.

Furthermore, it was unleashed shortly after Israel rejected a ceasefire proposal put forward by Egypt and Qatar that had been backed by Hamas. Tensions have been on the rise since then as the Israeli offensive intensifies despite international calls and an ICJ order to stop its attacks.
