The Israel Defense Forces shoot down a drone that was flying into Israeli territory from southern Lebanon

7 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shot down this Friday a drone that was flying towards Israel from southern Lebanon in the context of recent launches the day before between the parties, attributed to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), with a presence in the zone.

“The IDF forces identified a drone that was crossing from Lebanese territory into Israeli territory today in the area of the Zerait settlement and shot it down. The drone was monitored by the control system throughout the incident,” they have indicated in a statement on his official Twitter profile.

This occurs in the context of the recent tensions in the Esplanade of the Mosques, in the middle of the month of Ramadan, also coinciding with Pesaj, the Jewish Passover, and after several exchanges of missiles between the Gaza Strip and Israel, as well as alleged members of Hamas, according to the Israeli side, from southern Lebanon.

In fact, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, has asked the UN Security Council this Friday to condemn all these launches from the Strip and from Lebanon “against innocent Israelis”, as reported by the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.

The government’s action in response to the missiles fired from Lebanese territory has aroused criticism among supporters of the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, who has been quick to stress that decisions are not taken by his hand.

“There is no doubt that I have some influence, but it is certainly not enough and I often feel frustrated by certain decisions (that are made),” he said, adding that “overthrowing the government is not an option,” since “with all its deficiencies” is better than the previous Executive.

On the other hand, in an attempt to ease tensions in the region, senior Israeli military officials met this Friday with the head of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Aroldo Lázaro, according to a message posted on Twitter. by the official account of the Israeli Army.

In the last few hours, Israel has canceled air alerts for southern communities amid signs of a reduction in hostilities.
