The images are going around social networks. Iranian girls have taken off their headscarves in various high schools in Tehran and provinces, shouting slogans in favor of freedom and against power and the country’s top leaders.

After the demonstrations in recent days at various universities in the country, the protest movement has spread to schools. In social networks you can see many videos of young girls who have taken off their veils and shout death to the dictator or slogans in favor of freedom. In some cities, they even demonstrated in the streets without wearing the veil, which has been mandatory since the Islamic revolution in 1979.
Riot police continue to be deployed in large numbers in the main squares of the capital to prevent further demonstrations.
Several protesters released
At the same time, the authorities announced the release of several hundred protesters, but also of the singer Shervin Hajipour, whose pro-freedom song released after the death of Mahsa Amini became a symbol for the protesters. In some videos taken in schools, young girls with their hair up can be seen singing this song.
But the authorities seem determined. A new demonstration is held in Tehran on Wednesday in support of the government, after similar demonstrations have been held in several cities in the country in recent days.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused the United States and Israel on Monday of fomenting the wave of unrest and protests following the death of Mahsa Amini.
This 22-year-old Kurdish woman died on September 16, after being arrested three days earlier by Tehran’s morality police for breaking the strict dress code that requires women to wear the veil.
His death generated the current wave of protests, which has spread to several regions of the country and has entered its third week, becoming the most important in this country since 2019, then caused by the rise in the price of gasoline.
