The Iranian president will travel to Syria to celebrate the "victory" in the war

30 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, will travel to Syria next Wednesday to celebrate the “victory” of the so-called Resistance Front in the war that the Arab country has experienced and in which Tehran’s support for the Syrian government has been key to their survival.

The trip was announced on Twitter by the ‘number two’ of the presidential office for Political Affairs, Mohammad Yamshidi, according to the official Iranian news agency, IRNA, on Sunday.

“Western Asia has experienced a period of tension and geopolitical change with two results: the victory of Iran and the failure of the United States. This Resistance will be celebrated during President Raisi’s visit to Syria,” Yamshidi explained.

In addition, Yamshidi has remembered the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Qasem Soleimani, killed in a US attack in Baghdad in 2020. “Soleimani taught us that successful diplomacy has to be based on real power,” he stressed.

It is the first visit by an Iranian president to Syria since 2010, according to the Syrian newspaper ‘Al Watan’, which reported on Friday without specifying dates that Raisi’s visit will last two days and will include a meeting with Syrian President Bashar. al Assad. In addition, sources from the newspaper have highlighted that the economic area will be one of the central themes of the visit.
