The Iranian Foreign Minister speaks with his counterparts from Germany, France and the United Kingdom about his attack on Israel

Oct. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Aragchi, held a series of phone calls this Tuesday with his counterparts from France, Jean-Noel Barrot, from Germany, Annalena Baerbock, and from the United Kingdom, David Lammy, after the launch of more than two hundred missiles against Israeli territory in retaliation for the deaths of the leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniye, and the general secretary of the Lebanese Shiite militia party, Hasan Nasrallah.

The head of Iranian diplomacy has pointed out to his peers the “moderation” of the Islamic Republic “for more than two months” after the death of Haniye in an attack in Tehran blamed on Israel and after “the continuation of the war of this regime in Gaza and its expansion towards Lebanon,” according to a statement published by the ministerial portfolio.

“Iran has only used its right to self-defense based on Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and has exclusively attacked the military and security bases of the Zionist regime. The operation has ended, but if the Zionist regime attempts to retaliate, our response will be more severe,” he stated.

Furthermore, he has assured that Tehran does not intend to increase regional tensions to the point of provoking a war, which it however “does not fear”, and has warned about the involvement of third countries in the conflict.

Finally, Aragchi urged all countries to continue their efforts to establish a ceasefire and “avoid attacks by the Zionist regime and a further escalation of tensions.”

Shortly before, both Germany, France and the United Kingdom have spoken out against Iran’s attacks and have defended Israel’s right to defend itself against them.
