The Ibex 35 remained practically flat at the close of the session on Monday, trading at 11,395.3 points, which represents a drop of just 0.06% compared to the close on Friday, in a day without any major shocks in the market.
Investors have not had the US as a reference point, as markets are closed on Monday for Labor Day.
However, it has been learned that the Spanish manufacturing sector grew in August at its “weakest” pace in the last seven months, with an increase in new orders and a fall in production. In the eurozone, the manufacturing industry remained in contraction territory, a position it has been in since July 2022.
In the Spanish business arena, the board of directors of Fluidra has agreed to acknowledge the resignation of Bruce Walker Brooks as CEO of the company, effective yesterday, September 1.
Among the main rising stocks on Monday were Colonial (+2.91%), Telefónica (+1.51%), Acciona (+1.39%), Merlin (+1.08%), Solaria (+0.98%) and Bankinter (+0.78%). On the other hand, Fluidra (-1.79%), Inditex (-0.65%), Acciona Energía (-0.57%), Rovi (-0.57%), IAG (-0.46%), CaixaBank (-0.44%) and Banco Santander (-0.43%).
Elsewhere, the British FTSE 100 fell 0.15%, while the Italian FTSE MIB lost 0.15%. The French CAC 40 gained 0.20%, while the German DAX rose 0.13%.
Brent crude oil rose 0.78% at the close of the European trading session to $77.54, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil was at $74.30, up 1.02%.
On the debt market, the yield on the 10-year Spanish bond stood at 3.148%, compared with 3.133% at the close on Friday. The risk premium has thus fallen by 2.4 points to 81 basis points.
The euro appreciated by 0.16% against the dollar at the close of the European session, reaching an exchange rate of 1.1065 euros per unit of the common currency.
