The Ibex 35 closed today with a fall of 0.48%, falling back to the level of 11,100 integers in the absence of major references and awaiting macro data in the US, which will arrive on Friday, and the election results in France Sunday.
Renta 4 analysts highlight, on the one hand, the trade tensions between Europe and China, as well as the statements of Jean-Philippe Tanguy, candidate for finance minister in France if Marinne Le Pen wins the elections, in which he indicated that will not allow the deficit to “get out of control” and thus commit to the European fiscal framework.
In Spain, the National Institute of Statistics (INE) has reported that the Spanish economy grew 0.8% in the first quarter of the year, one tenth more than expected and also one tenth above what it did in the fourth quarter of 2023.
In this context, only seven stocks have ended positively on the Ibex 35: Iberdrola (+1.06%), Meliá (+0.66%), Endesa (+0.63%), Ferrovial (+0.22% ), Bankinter (+0.13%), Amadeus (+0.13%) and CaixaBank (+0.04%).
The biggest fall has been for Fluidra, which has lost 7.94% in the session after its American competitor Pool warned yesterday of a “persistently weak” demand in the construction of new swimming pools, thus lowering its profit prospects.
Behind them were Grifols (-2.51%), Solaria (-2.21%), IAG (-1.82%), Sacyr (-1.77%), Telefónica (-1.75%) and Indra (-1.67%).
The rest of the European indices have also closed negative. Frankfurt has lost 0.81%; Paris, 0.58%; London, 0.41% and Milan, 0.38%.
A barrel of Brent stood at $85.36, down 0.65%, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) reached $81.09, down 0.66%.
In the debt market, the yield on the Spanish bond with a 10-year maturity reached 3.266%, below the 3.277% recorded at the close of Monday. In this way, the risk premium stood at 86.1 basis points.
In the currency market, the euro depreciated 0.24% to $1.0707 for each unit of the community currency.
