The experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) detected during their visit to the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant evidence that it has suffered bombing, which shows that “the physical integrity of the building has been violated” despite the risk that this implies .
The director general of the agency, Rafael Grossi, has presented, back in Austria, some of the checks carried out on Thursday ‘in situ’ at the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, located in southern Ukraine and under the control of Russian forces since the beginning of March.
In the facilities, the experts saw remains of impacts and other marks on the buildings, something as obvious as unacceptable in the words of Grossi, according to the DPA news agency.
The head of the IAEA has clarified, however, that the main elements that guarantee the security of the plant continue to function and has said that he has no record that the Russian authorities had hidden anything during the mission.

The bulk of the team left on Thursday with Grossi, but several experts have stayed inside the center, at least until this Saturday. The director of the organization trusts that there may be a “permanent mission”.
