The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) on Wednesday urged the Peruvian government to clarify quickly and with impartial investigations to the death of almost fifty people to date in the context of the violent social protests in the country that began in December and were reactivated after the end of the year festivities.
Commissioner Stuardo Ralón, who traveled to Peru last week to verify the situation, it presented a preliminary report to the plenary session of the Organization of American States (OAS) in which the instance expressed its condemnation of the “excessive use of force by the security forces, as well as the acts violent acts committed by organized groups”.
“The State has the duty to carry out serious, impartial and effective investigations by prosecutors specialized in human rights; as well as judging and punishing the responsible persons”, said the rapporteur.

On behalf of the Peruvian government, the Director General for Multilateral and Global Affairs of Peru, Paul Fernando Duclos Parodi, spoke, who said that the government of President Dina Boluarte is fully willing to support the investigations and adheres to “action protocols to avoid the excessive use of force” by state security agents.
“The government of Peru regrets the loss of these human lives,” said the diplomat who expanded his request for support from the international community to get out of the political and social crisis facing the Andean country.
He said that the Peruvian government is open to receiving equipment from the agency to verify the situation. “Peru offered all the facilities to the IACHR delegation so that it can approach all public and private actors and civil society organizations and receive contact on the situation in Peru from different sources,” the diplomat sent to Washington qualified. to respond to the OAS.
The representatives of the different governments of the region joined the requests to clarify the facts and showed support to open channels of dialogue that allow a prompt solution to the crisis.
