MADRID 29 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
This Monday, the Yemeni Houthi rebels claimed new attacks against three vessels that were off their coast, as part of their missile and drone attacks in response to Israel’s military offensive against the Gaza Strip.
The Houthi military operations spokesman, Yahya Sari, has reported a drone attack against the container ship ‘SC Montreal’ and a cruise missile attack against the ‘MAERSK KOWLOON’, both flying the Liberian flag, when they were transiting across the Arabian Sea and “achieving a direct impact.”
Likewise, he explained that they have carried out a “third operation” with ballistic missiles that affected the ship ‘Motaro’ when it was in the Red Sea and the Strait of Bab al Mandeb. “The attacks have been precise and direct,” he assured.
Sari has maintained that “the three ships have been attacked due to violation of the decision to prohibit ship-owning companies from entering the ports of occupied Palestine (referring to Israel).” Thus, he has reaffirmed that they will continue “imposing a naval blockade” on Israel and will continue attacking “objectives” in its territory until it “lifts the siege of Gaza and ceases aggression against Lebanon.”
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency, linked to the Royal Navy, has only reported on the attack against the ‘Motaro’, and has assured that the vessel and crew “are safe”, after to record three explosions “in the vicinity” of the ship.
The insurgents, backed by Iran, have controlled Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and areas of the country’s north and west since 2015. The rebels have responded to the Israeli offensive on Gaza with dozens of attacks against ships with some type of connection to Israel and They have assured that they guarantee the free navigation of the rest of the ships
