Umberto Bossi, a member of the far-right Italian League party –formerly the Northern League–, has defended the need to “relaunch the autonomist project” for northern Italy in the face of the rise of the political formation and its government prospects together with other formations of right.
Bossi has thus defended the Northern Committee, created on October 1, as “a vital step that exclusively seeks to win votes in the North after the electoral results of September 25 and relaunch the autonomy project.”
In this way, all the members of the League for Salvini Premier candidacy will be invited to this new Northern Committee to join with “renewed enthusiasm” for the objectives that laid the foundations for the founding of the Northern League in March 1984.
Bossi has assured that the project is in an “advanced phase” with statutes and an organizational structure. “What I am doing is consistent with what I have done all my life: defend the reasons of the North. The Northern Committee is a committee that is within the League for Salvini Premier,” he explained.
“These are the same ideals that have made the League great: autonomy for the North. The green scarf and tie are our symbols of freedom,” he stressed.
