Without a doubt, 2023 is a wonderful year for video games. While the first half saw some awful titles that turned out to be a complete disappointment and disrespect, we also saw the premiere of gems that are already poised to hit it big in the upcoming awards season. The interesting thing is that the best games share one characteristic.

Due to the rise of video games as a service with a great emphasis on online modalities, in recent years some companies have handled the narrative that single player titles were in decline. Many players even believed that these experiences were going to cease to exist.

History has shown us that single player titles can indeed still find their place in the hearts of fans and generate multi-million dollar profits. For proof of that, we have the highest-rated titles from the first half of this year.

Although experiences like Street Fighter 6, Tetris Effect: Connected and Diablo IV they have a multiplayer component, they can also be enjoyed solo.

The interesting thing is that many of the proposals that appear on the list not only received very good ratings from specialized critics and players, they were also resounding commercial successes. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom already sold more than 10 million copies, Resident Evil 4 Remake already dispatched more than 4 million units and Hogwarts Legacy He did the same with more than 15 million games sold worldwide.
