MADRID 4 Oct. () –

The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wieslaw Kukula, participated this Friday in the inauguration of the military academic year, at which time he assured that the new generation of recruits will be the ones who defend Polish national sovereignty ” with weapons in hand”, thus risking a possible military confrontation.

“Everything indicates that we are the generation that will defend our country with weapons in hand. And I do not believe that any of you have the intention of losing this war,” General Kukula stated during a speech in which he highlighted that, In case of conflict, Polish troops will go to battle, win, and return to “continue building Poland.”

However, the highest representative of the Polish Armed Forces has expressed concern regarding the country’s demographic crisis, as this leads to a level of recruitment that will not be sustainable in the future. “The enemy’s potential is so great that we must build a much larger Army,” Kukula said, advocating the implementation of a unified military service.

These statements by Kukula occur in a European context marked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began more than two and a half years ago and is advancing without apparent continuity. The Russian offensive has raised alarms in Europe, which now considers Moscow as a major threat in the future, especially the nations in the east of the continent.
