The head of the Israel Police, Kobi Shabtai, traveled to Israel on Monday for a five-day official trip with which he becomes the first in his position to travel to the African country, within the framework of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2020.
Shabtai’s visit takes place after the head of the Israeli Army, Aviv Kohavi, visited Rabat and as part of it he will meet with senior officials of the Police and security forces of the African country, according to the newspaper ‘ The Times of Israel’.
“The Moroccan police chief and senior officials will discuss strengthening cooperation at the operational, intelligence and investigative levels to strengthen the relationship between the two countries and the police,” the Israel Police said in a statement.
Shabtai already made an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) months ago to promote cooperation initiatives at the security level between the two countries, within the framework of the ‘Abraham Agreements’, signed in 2020 with the mediation of the United States.
The agreement between Israel and Morocco to normalize relations came after the Israeli government signed a similar agreement with the UAE and Bahrain, within the framework of the ‘Abraham Agreements’. After that, Sudan joined them.
