The Guinean opposition calls for mobilizations to demand the release of the members of its party held

Oct. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The National Front for the Defense of the Constitution (FNDC) of Guinea, the opposition party, has called for peaceful demonstrations to demand the release of the FNDC’s national coordinator, the party’s chief of operations and “all political, opinion and activist leaders unjustly arrested and imprisoned.

The party has scheduled two rallies, on Tuesday, October 18, in the capital, Conakry, and on Wednesday, October 26, throughout the national territory, according to the local news portal ‘Media Guinee’.

This call comes after the government has ‘dissolved’ this party through the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization.

In the statement released, the FNDC demands that the National Assembly and the Development Commission satisfy its demands articulated in eight points, among which the one that refers to its members detained for political reasons stands out.

Last August, the FNDC transferred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) a list with the names of thirteen people for their alleged role in the repression of the latest protests, including the leader of the military junta and transitional president, Mamady Doumbouya.

The list also included the names of Justice Minister Alphonse Wright; the Minister of Security, Bachir Diallo; the Minister of Territory Administration Mory Condé; the Secretary General of the Presidency, Amara Camara; the commander of the National Gendarmerie and general director of military justice, Balla Samoura; and the general director of the Police, Abdoulaye Sampil.

The last protests called between July 27 and 30 against the military junta to denounce the “arrogance” of the military authorities and their “systematic refusal” to open a “credible” dialogue to address the transition, ended with the denunciation of the opponents of “bloody repression and human rights violations” during the demonstrations.
