Pakistan’s Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel has released an official medical report on an evaluation of former Prime Minister and opposition leader Imran Khan that reveals evidence of chemicals “like alcohol and cocaine,” casts doubt on the mental stability of the former president and accuses him of exaggerating the injuries suffered in the attempted assassination of which he was subjected last year.

The report was distributed to the press during an appearance by Minister Patel in the city of Karachi and indicates that the evaluation of the former prime minister was carried out on May 9, the day Jan was arrested for a case of alleged corruption and beginning of a new wave of protests and confrontations in the framework of the long political crisis that the country is going through, especially since the motion of censure in April last year that cost the president his job.

The Minister of Health has also announced the initiation of disciplinary actions against the doctors who “erroneously” diagnosed a fracture in the former Prime Minister’s leg when he was the target of an assassination attempt in November last year. “In the medical report there is no mention of any fracture when this man was in a cast for almost six months,” Patel said. “Can you tell me?” he snapped at the media, “who has spent six months in a cast for a muscle injury?”

Patel then proceeded to disclose the results of a urinalysis of the former prime minister that reveals “the possible use of toxic substances, similar to alcohol or cocaine” and to detail the conclusions of the section dedicated to the psychological evaluation of the former president, described as an individual “under anxiety symptoms, with little knowledge of the seriousness of the situation he is going through, and whose mental stability is questionable,” according to the document, signed by a team of doctors from the Islamabad Institute of Medical Sciences.

The former prime minister has been accused of drug use for years, which Jan has categorically denied. His ex-wife Reham assured in a book published in 2018 that Jan was a regular user of cocaine, ecstasy and tranquilizers.

“From what the report says, the actions of the former prime minister during the evaluation did not appear to be those of a sane man and he even exhibited inappropriate gestures,” according to the Minister of Health at the press conference, reported among others by the newspaper ‘Dawn ‘, in which he accused Jan of becoming a “narcissist” who “should be in a museum”.

“Not to tell lies that are passed off as truths, it has destroyed the social fabric and the culture of education in this country,” he concluded.
