The Government of Lebanon has denounced that the Israeli Army has kidnapped a civilian during a raid carried out this past Friday in the north of the country, confirmed by the Israeli military who, on the contrary, assure that the captured person is a senior Hezbollah official. .
The Minister of Public Works and Transportation of Lebanon, Ali Jamié, has assured that the kidnapped person is a civilian ship captain and that he is in no way involved with the Shiite militia party, who has also rejected any connection with the captive. Security sources have also confirmed to ‘L’Orient le Jour’ that it appears to be a captain of commercial ships.
Israel has not yet commented on the alleged assault or its results.
According to Lebanese journalist Hasan Illaik, the operation was carried out at dawn on Friday by more than 25 Israeli soldiers on the coast of Batroun, south of Tripoli, in a villa near the beach. Israeli forces entered the home and took this individual with them before fleeing the country by boat.
