MADRID Dec. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Jordan’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Yarub al Quda, has announced that Jordanian trucks will be able to enter Syrian territory starting this Wednesday morning through the Jaber border crossing, located north of the Jordanian capital, Amman.
In a statement to the Petra news agency, he explained that the decision to introduce trucks into Syria will help the flow of goods and cargo between the two countries since the fall of Bashar al Assad’s regime.
Al Quda added that he will visit the Jaber border crossing on Thursday in order to review the progress of work and procedures related to commercial exchange between Damascus and Amman. Likewise, he has indicated that the new Syrian authorities have canceled all types of customs taxes.
The offensive in Syria, launched on November 27 from the province of Idlib – located in the northwest, on the border with Turkey – has allowed jihadists and rebels to put an end to the regime of the Al Assad family, in power since 1971 – first with Hafez al Assad (1971-2000) and later with his son, Bashar -, faced with a constant withdrawal of government troops, supported by Russia and Iran.
