June 25 () –
The Minister of the Interior of France, Gérald Darmanin, announced this Tuesday that he foresees altercations during the days of the early legislative elections that will take place in a first round on June 30 and in a second on July 7, suggesting that they could come mainly of “radical Islamism.”
“The information from the Intelligence services speaks of possible disturbances of public order on June 30 and, above all, on July 7,” the French Interior Minister revealed during an interview for the CNews network.
Darmanin has assured that there are “many agitators in France” and the Government believes that these disturbances of public order will come mainly from “radical Islamism”, but does not rule out “threats” from the extreme right and extreme left, although he believes that these groups are ” minority”, although “dangerous”.
“We are preparing for it,” said Darmain, who has reported that he will request a security meeting this Wednesday due to the likelihood that in addition to riots there will be attacks on government institutions.
“It is not the streets, it is not force, it is not punches that make democracy. It is the French,” the Minister of the Interior emphasized.
The French go this Sunday to vote in the first round of a parliamentary election called in advance by President Emmanuel Macron after the poor results of his party in the European elections, in which the far-right represented by the National Rally won.
According to polls, this would be the main election among the French, with more than 35 percent of the votes, followed by the left-wing coalition New Popular Front, which would achieve 29 percent of support. In third place would be Renacimiento, Macron’s party, close to 20 percent.
