Aug. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government of Burkina Faso has denied having signed a non-aggression pact with armed groups after several local media reported that the Burkina Faso Executive had agreed a 24-month truce with “terrorists”.
The Executive of Burkina Faso has assured in a statement published on Saturday that the information published by the newspaper ‘Aujourd’hui au Faso’, in which it is assured that the Government would have signed a 24-month truce with “terrorists”, is ” pure and simple infatuation”.
“This is pure and simple fabrications, totally alien to the objectives of the transitional government, which remains determined to pacify our country and restore the territorial integrity of Burkina Faso so that free women and men can live in this land of dignity united “, expressed the office of Prime Minister Albert Ouédraogo in the letter.
In the letter, the Burkina Faso government has pointed out to the media that, like the aforementioned newspaper, have shared the “totally unfounded accusations”, and has urged the newspapers to exercise “their obligation to be professionals in order to be more credible, professionalism for greater credibility”.
Likewise, he lamented that “an issue of such seriousness can be treated with such lightness and carelessness and that false information is thus propagated in the public space”.
“The actions of the Transitional Government must not be based on sordid or pacts with terrorists to sign a peace for two years,” added the Executive of Burkina Faso.
