The rescue ship ‘Geo Barents’, operated by the NGO Doctors Without Borders (MSF), has rescued 26 migrants on Tuesday, eight of them minors, aboard a boat in the waters of the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Libya.
Doctors Without Borders has reported on its Twitter profile that, following a notice from the NGO Alarm Phone, which operates in international waters, the ship ‘Geo Barents’ launched an operation to rescue the 26 migrants, including A pregnant woman.
According to data provided by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), almost 500 people have drowned in April of this year alone trying to reach Europe, the NGO Sea Watch recalled this Tuesday on its official Twitter profile.
