The General Staff of the Ukrainian Army has assured this Saturday that the Russian forces have not managed to advance during the last hours on the front of the Kharkov region, in the northeast of the country, the scene of 116 clashes since Friday.
According to data updated by the General Staff on its Facebook page, another 22 clashes took place this Saturday, eight of them ongoing.
Russia, in particular, has launched new attacks against the towns of Liptsi and Vovchansk, which the Ukrainian Army has managed to respond. This last city, Russia’s major short-term objective, is now “practically destroyed,” according to the head of the Center for Combating Disinformation in Ukraine, Andriy Kovalenko.
“Unfortunately, the city of Vovchansk has been practically destroyed by the enemy, who continues to attack it mercilessly with anti-aircraft weapons, but still has not captured it,” he said. Fighting continues in the northern part of the city, where “the defenders keep the invaders under control,” he added.
In addition, Ukrainian forces have repelled two enemy attacks in the direction of Berestovo, where the situation is “under control”, and have even launched counterattacks in the Sinkivka and Terni areas, “with partial success in some areas.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense, for its part, has announced in the last few hours the capture of the town of Staritsa, the thirteenth town that it has assumed under its control since the beginning of its new offensive in the region, although Ukraine has rejected this class of announcements and assured that all threatened populations are now under dispute.
