The French Government encourages teleworking to avoid collapse during the Paris Olympics

April 20 () –

The French Government has made teleworking permits more flexible so that officials avoid moving around Paris as much as possible during the Olympic Games, in an attempt to free up public transport and alleviate private traffic at the peak of visitors on the occasion of the sports event.

This Saturday, the official bulletin includes a reform by which civil servants will be authorized to take ten more days of teleworking this year. They may also exceed the limit of three days a week, according to a text that stipulates 28.22 euros in compensation for each day of remote employment.

The Olympic Games will start on July 26 and will last until August 11. During these weeks, the authorities had already recommended that officials avoid trips to the office or even modify schedules to avoid peak hours.

The Government expects that more than 15 million visitors will travel to Paris for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, at a time also marked by security concerns. France has been at the highest level of anti-terrorist alert since March and the president, Emmanuel Macron, has acknowledged that they are working on alternative plans to the river parade along the Seine during the opening ceremony.
