This Saturday the first ferry arrived at the port of Al Hoceima with Moroccans working abroad and returning to their country on vacation in the so-called Operation Crossing the Strait.
Some 220 Moroccans and 64 vehicles have arrived at the Moroccan port in what the authorities of the Maghreb country call operation Marhaba 2024, according to the Moroccan press.
The ferry has the capacity to transport 1,500 passengers and 300 vehicles. He left Motril to cross the Strait of Gibraltar and arrive on the eve of the Festival of Sacrifice or Eid al Adha, one of the most important in the Muslim calendar.
The captain of the port of Al Hoceima, Adil el Bardi, already highlighted on Sunday in statements to the Moroccan news agency MAP the “positive atmosphere” after the arrival of this first ferry.
El Bardi has highlighted the collaboration of entities such as the Mohamed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Gendarmerie, National Security, Customs, Ports and local authorities.
Operation Marhaba 2024 includes the deployment of specialized means on board and in port to improve the transit of travelers, including older people or those with special needs.
