The family of the adolescent Fátima Zahra, 15 years old and residing in Tata, Agadir, Morocco, has denounced the one-year prison sentences imposed on four of those responsible for her group rape, while a fifth suspect has fled to Dakhla and is not even being sought by the Police.
The girl was raped by the owner of a grocery store and four other men and later gave birth to a baby, the victim’s uncle, Abdeslam, explained to the Moroccan news portal Hespress.
Abdeslam has denounced the lightness of the sentences imposed and has assured that the authorities have opened a localized investigation and have not launched a national alert, so the fifth suspect is not even being sought.
Even the family of the fugitive has contacted the family of the victim “asking” that they withdraw the complaint, which they reject, since they are asking for justice to be done. They have also received economic offers to prevent DNA tests from being carried out to find out who the father of the baby is.
“The girl hears all kinds of offensive things in the village and at school and cannot take care of the baby. Her parents and grandmother are sick and can hardly help (…). She is hysterical and depressed,” Abdeslam explained.
