The explosion of a tanker truck leaves at least 13 dead and ten injured in central Nigeria

At least 13 people have died and a dozen are injured to varying degrees when a fuel tanker truck exploded in the Nigerian city of Jos, in the central state of Plateau, in a detonation that has also destroyed almost thirty shops.

Police spokesman Alfred Alabo has indicated that the event took place on Thursday, after the truck crashed due to a brake failure. The explosion has also destroyed a dozen vehicles.

“The ten people who suffered varying degrees of injuries during the incident are receiving treatment at various hospitals, while the bodies of the deceased have also been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition,” according to the ‘Premium Times’.
