BRUSSELS Oct. 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Member States of the European Union agreed this Tuesday to renew the sanctions against the terrorist groups Islamic State and Al Qaeda for another year within the framework of sanctions that affect 15 people and 6 entities.
Those designated on the EU ‘blacklist’ are subject to an asset freeze, while individuals are also banned from traveling to the EU.
It is also prohibited to make funds, financial assets or economic resources available to the people included on the list. These EU measures are complementary to those imposed by the United Nations Security Council against both groups.
In this way, the EU reiterates its commitment to act against those who “threaten international peace and security by planning, financing and executing terrorist attacks and disseminating terrorist propaganda throughout the world,” the Council said in a statement.
