BRUSSELS Oct. 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The European Union agreed this Monday to extend its advisory mission to the Central African Republic for two years until 2026, adopting an allocation of 24 million euros for this period.

In this way, the 27 extend by two years the mandate for the operation that was established in December 2019 with the objective of supporting the reform of the internal security forces to allow the authorities of the Central African Republic to mitigate security challenges in the country .

The objective is to improve the security situation of the population, contributing to the development of the country and achieving sustainable peace. Among other things, the mission supports the operation of coherent and responsible security providers, under full national ownership.

This mission coexists with another EU mission focused on military training that since the end of 2021 suspended its activities and reoriented its objectives in the face of the influence of the Russian paramilitaries of the Wagner Group in the country.
