April 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The main officials of the European Union have condemned the attack launched this Sunday by Iran against Israel and have confessed their fear of the beginning of an even greater escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
The president of the European Council, Charles Michel, has called for “everything possible” to be done so that the situation does not worsen and to avoid “more massacre.” “We will follow the situation closely together with our allies,” he said on his X social network account.
For his part, the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell, has “roundly” condemned the attack launched this Sunday by Iran against Israel, “unacceptable” in his opinion. “It is an unprecedented escalation and a serious threat to regional security,” the head of European diplomacy has also warned on social networks.
Other leaders have also joined the condemnation, such as the Dutch Mark Rutte, who has confirmed that he is following the situation “closely.” “We must avoid an even greater escalation,” he stressed.
For his part, the Prime Minister of Austria, Karl Nehammer, has stated that “Iran's attack against Israel must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.” Austria, he added, “is firmly committed to Israel's security and we call on Iran to immediately stop hostilities.”
