BRUSSELS, 24 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The European Union has expressed this Wednesday its condemnation of the plans of the Israeli authorities to advance plans to build 600 homes in existing and new settlements in the West Bank, urging the Executive of Benjamin Netanyahu to reverse this decision.
In a statement, community diplomacy has indicated that it is “seriously concerned” and condemns the decision to allow Israeli citizens to establish a “permanent presence in the outpost of Homesh, in the occupied West Bank.”
In this sense, the European bloc asks Israel to reverse the decision adopted last week to build more than 600 homes in existing settlements and also new ones in the West Bank.
The EU reiterates its position that the settlements are “illegal” under international law and undermine the path of a two-state solution, stressing that the plans are unilateral actions that go in the opposite direction of efforts to de-escalate intra-Israeli tensions. and Palestinians, who registered a new rise after the disturbances in the Al Aqsa mosque last April during the Ramadan celebrations.
Lastly, community diplomacy denounces the situation in Ein Samiya, in the West Bank, where 172 people have been forced to leave their homes due to attacks by settlers and demolition orders. The EU has condemned the violence and called on Israel to ensure accountability for this episode.
